Sarkar - the review

Well, to sum up Sarkar in one word, it is Fabulous!

There are some points that could have been taken care of: a bit of editing here and there, but would grant those to Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) and his team. I watched this film for three main reasons: AB and his baby, it's a "tribute" (in Ramu's words!) to Godfather and the likeness of Sarkar to Balasaheb. Now, my admiration for Balasaheb need not be mentioned here. everyone who knows me well enough knows that I adore Balasaheb.

Ok, now for the film.....begins in the classic Godfather style.....was done superbly... a man asking Sarkar for help in avenging his daughter's death. And the next scene - violence at its very best! Yeah, it was a gory scene...not for the faint hearted...but real good scene value.

The arrest of Sarkar so much resembled Balasaheb's arrest. RGV tries to mix a bit of Balasaheb's life and Godfather. Typically Bollywood mentality! :)

The film dragged a bit in the middle. Guess RGVand Co. lost track. But they more than made up for it in the final sequences. The way AB junior goes about avenging the back stabbing of Sarkar is worth watching. If not for anything, watch the film for these scenes-simplay amazing!! Superb stuff! Such cold murder, yet so superbly executed. And the scene where AB junior announces that he killed his brother is gut wrenching. Watch out for Big B's acting in that scene.....and the next dialogue.... "Ab?"

Awesome film, do try to watch it at least once. A really good film made after a long time. At least RGV and Co. did not make a hash of Godfather...as so many of our directors do in the name of "tribute"!

***** 5 stars: Excellent
