In pursuit of HAPPYNESS!!!

I was reading a friend’s blog where she mentioned that she wasn’t happy. Mind you, not happy must not be taken to be sad or something. Not happy as in Not Happy. The reasons for this are quite difficult to fathom.

I was thinking about what she had written, and then realized that it was the same case with me! It took me a blog to realize that! J

I talked to quite a few of my friends – friends whom you have known all your life! And it was the same case with many of them! They had a good career going; many had girlfriends (if that is a source of happiness! I don’t know if it is!), were earning good money, are spread across the globe – yet, many are not happy.

Maybe it is a case of our generation wanting too much from life. We want money, a good life – and we aim for something much better – and then the cycle continues. Aspiring for something is not a bad thing in itself – it will only help you to do better. But how much is too much? Is there a line to be drawn somewhere? Are we just running after too much – only forgetting to stop and smell the roses?

I guess we must start enjoying what we have at present before we start moving on to the next thing! I always remember a little incident from my childhood. During Diwali celebrations, there used to be a lot of crackers at home. I really enjoyed bursting them – especially right at 6 in the morning! (Much to the annoyance of my neighbors, I must add!) I had great fun then – but I never used to enjoy the beautiful flower pots or the rockets bursting in the sky. I had more fun lighting the cracker and running to light the next! In the process – you derive more fun from the process than the result itself. My dad always used to slow me down – ask me to enjoy the scene before moving on to then next one!

I guess I need to do that in life too – enjoy the result rather than the process itself. After all, as they say, happiness is not something you search for – it is always in you! All you have to do is to stop and look at it!!!
